French at Connaught Junior School

In the modern world it is important that our children are equipped for their future as global citizens. As such, being proficient in at least one other language will open up opportunities for them in the near and distant future. Our children are very lucky to be taught by a French specialist as part of our specialist weekly provision of French, Music and PE for all year groups. The topics are as closely linked to our Creative Curriculum as possible.

The topics covered can be seen below:

The French Residential Trip

Our Year 6 children have previously visited Le Touquet in northern France on a residential trip. This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to practise their French as they visited various attractions in the area and met their pen pals from L’Ecole Primaire de Quarouble near Valenciennes

French Learning Opportunities within school

The children learn more about the French language through creating their own fruit salads and creating their own French breakfasts. There is nothing quite like making learning memorable through the preparation and eating of food!

Promoting British Values through French

The children were encouraged to think about all things British and create a poster celebrating these things to send to their French pen pals.
