Year 5

 

Reading

Read at least 5 times before next Monday. Each time you read, copy a sentence from your reading book. Use different colour pencils to underline a noun and verb in each sentence.

Extension: Can you find a sentence with only two words in it? (If not, make one up!)

Write your 5 examples on the page opposite: Remember A noun is the name of something eg hat, telephone, Manchester (some need a capital letter some do not). A verb is a doing or being word, eg I run, I think, I am, I do.

Maths

In your blue books, complete the Maths questions. Copy the number and continue the sequence 5 times. 

Treat your Maths homework book like you do your class Maths book; set your work out neatly using one square per digit.

The Year 5 team is grateful for you sending your wonderful, polite and eager children to us!

· The word of the week this week is commence – to begin something. 

· The theme of the week is New Beginnings.

· We are planning to hold Pupil Parliament Elections on Friday 12th.

· We will give spelling words next Monday and the tests will be on the following Friday.

Looking forward: The photographer will be taking individual portraits of all of the children on Monday (15th Sept - next week). Come to school even smarter than normal!

We have our ‘Meet the Teacher’ meeting on Tuesday 16th Sept at 7-8pm. The Year 5 teachers will be there. It would be great if you were too.
